Stop Suffering From Nagging Knee Pain

The Anatomy of the Knee

Ever had knee pain?

Do you deal with constant knee pain to some degree?

Read here and begin to understand the causes of knee pain.

The unfortunate reality of the knee is that when you look at the anatomy of the joint and consider its functional role, it is no wonder injuries and knee pain are common.

The movement demands on the knee joint are simply described as a series of muscles, tendons and ligaments holding two cylinders together at their ends, providing motion, absorbing impact and requiring stability. With the upper and lower leg being the “cylinders”, the muscles, tendons, ligaments and bone structures crossing and ending at the joint are under incredible stress to allow us to move without knee pain.

The first thing to ask yourself about the causes of knee pain is..how did it happen?

    Impact ………………………….. Contusion (bruise)

    Crush ………………………….. Contusion, Sprain

    Twist ………………………….. Sprain (ligament injury)

Hard exertion …………………………… Strain (muscle and tendon injury)

Repetitive motion ………………………. Tendonitis (tendon injury

Sprains and Strains:

Knee pain from sprains and strains result of a tissue (ligament and muscle / tendon) being stretched beyond their normal tolerance during motion.

Tendonitis:

Commonly called Jumpers Knee, Runners Knee, Cyclists’ knee. These conditions result from repetitive motions of low to moderate constant force. Simply put, knee pain from tendonitis is due to swelling of a tendon that crosses the knee

How To Get Relief Of Knee Pain:

No matter what the cause, the immediate response you should take to find relief of knee pain can be remembered as R-I-C-E:

    Rest – get off it.

Ice – to reduce swelling and pain

Compression – lightly to reduce swelling

    Elevation – to reduce swelling

ART and Knee Pain

Treatment of knee pain with ART is extremely successful, here’s why:

Knee pain of muscular origin (strain, tendonitis) is treated by resolving muscle injuries (scar tissue, swelling) related to movement of the knee.

Treating and relieving knee pain with ART at the ligament structures and the knee capsule (sprains) returns shortened structures to normal length, therefore returning normal movement of the knee joint. In the occurrence of complete ligament tears, ART can help reduce pain associated with these severe injuries.

Tendonitis injuries (such as Runners’ Knee, Cyclists’ Knee and Jumpers’ Knee) is simply a result of swelling within the tendon and shortening of that tendon due to pain. Knee pain increases with continued use. Like no other treatment, ART resolves the tendonitis condition, relieving knee pain.
